SMP Pre-Treatment & Aftercare Advice 

Please read the below information fully. For best Scalp Micropigmentation results it is crucial that you follow the advice provided. 


You CANNOT have Scalp Micropigmentation if:

  • You are under 18 years old 

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding

  • You have uncontrolled Diabetes or Blood Pressure 

  • You have a skin condition that is active in the area to be tattooed

  • You are unable to stop taking blood thinning medications for a few days around the time of treatment 

  • You are currently undergoing radiotherapy of chemotherapy 

  • You have an autoimmune condition 

  • You have haemophilia 

If you have any other medical condition/ skin condition, or take any regular medication - Please feel free to contact me for advice prior to booking. 

Other things to consider 

  • Often more than 1 session is required, especially when completing a full head treatment 

  • Please allow enough time for healing/ multiple sessions before any significant life events or holidays 

  • Your skin should be in optimum condition for best results. Look after your scalp with appropriate shampoo/ Conditioners/ SPF/ Moisturisers as applicable to your personal situation. If you need any advice on this, please contact me. 

  • Results are instant and long-lasting, but will require some maintenance. Colour Boosts will be necessary.

Pre-Treatment Advice & Aftercare 

  • Keep the area out of direct sunlight for 2 weeks prior to your SMP appointment 

  • Keep the skin in good condition 

  • Keep yourself well hydrated prior to your appointment 

  • Do not drink alcohol, caffeine or take blood thinners for 24 hours before your appointment 

  • Wash you hair/ head the morning of your appointment - Do not use conditioner, or any other hair products 


  • Keep the area dry for 5 days - NO WET, NO SWEAT!

  • Do not wash your hair for 5 days - Do not use dry shampoo or ant other hair products on your hair for 5 days

  • Keep the area out of direct sunlight for 1 week. Thereafter please apply SPF protection or wear a hat to protect your SMP

  • Keep well hydrated to aid the skins healing process
